My drawings do not come before the paintings. During the long painting process (that begins very loosely with the brush massing in forms directly on the panel) I will take a break sometimes as I wait for a glazing layer to dry. That is when I may do a drawing for a few days and experience the subject without color. So the drawing is titled "Drawing During..."
You get to see the image as it was before me and not in the "visual stutter" version of the painting.
